A few weeks ago I bought an off the shelf AV from a local garden center, only because it is the most unusual one I have ever seen....
It had huge ruffle edge leaves, dark green with the burgundy color underneath, and the flowers were something to behold - deep purple, but with a tiny ruffle along the edges that was almost a neon green, it wasn't that the top of the petals had neon green, it was the actual "sides" - not the bottom or the top - of the petals that was that color, and you only could see it because of the tiny tiny ruffling causing the edges to turn up.
This did not look like your average off the shelf violet. Unfortunately, in one week it succumbed to crown rot or something like that, and I never got a picture. I tried to take leaf cuttings, but by the time I noticed something was wrong, the leaves were already affected.
Does this type of violet sound familiar to any of you? There was no label, and the bottom of the plastic 4" pot said Made in Canada, if that helps.
Edited to add:
I know I won;t be able to get an ID here, so let me rephrase my question - can anyone point me towards a similar violet so that I can buy it?

It's that time of year when garden centers and such are getting african violets to sell. You could also check your lowes and home depot - if you have any around where you live..they often have those violets. There was a time when many had a name on the label but I guess because labels can be mis-handled, they stopped using the names.

thanks for the optimara link bigoldbuck, that is the violet - well, it is either everbeautiful, everjoy, or everspecial. I should be able to find another one somewhere if they are on the commercial market. Will check Lowes and the other box stores also - thanks to both of you!
