Pond pix as requested because I didn't want to take over the other thread.
Everything is DIY from skimmers, bottom drains, and filters.
This first pix is when I kept the koi and goldies together with more plants than I've had in it for the past 2 yrs. The past two years I have had the koi in this 'upper pond' and the goldies in the 'lower pond'.
Snapple, welcome to my pond...
Yes you shouldn't have asked about my pond! Getting tired of pix yet?

Thanks for sharing your pond! It is fantastic and I love your koi!
Beautiful Lotus & water lily & Koi. They are good size. Mine range from 3" to 1 ft. They still have lots of growing to do.
OMG - It's just stunning. The rockwork is incredible. So is the overall layout. If that doesn't inspire somebody nothing will. I'm in awe.
Thanks, hopefully we can get started at my new pond here soon so I can get my fish and plants here instead of going to visit them 2-3 times a week!
Gorgeous pond, Bonnie! I love how natural the rock work looks and what a beautiful setting. I am so jealous!;)
It is just beautiful!!! your lilies are all healthy!! Dod you fertilize them? Kois are tame.Your rocks formation are exquiste and who made your pond? Lots of question, I am impress!!! I enjoyed all the pix.Bellieg
Very Beautiful pond BonnieIN! How long have you had it?
Gorgeous!!! I love everything about it!!! I know that it brings you and everyone who sees it great pleasure!!!! TY for sharing it!!!!
Beautiful pond thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks all for your compliments. We started building the ponds five years ago but it took us a good two years to get it until it looked this way so it was a very long project!
I currently have to go 'visit' the pond and fish because we moved this winter and currently don't have a liner pond here at our new house but luckily it's only a 7 mile drive!
We don't have our other place for sale yet due to all the foreclosure prices, etc. but the pond and my fish are the main thing that I miss about our other place.
DH agreed to have someone build a pond here but I've recently been checking into prices and WOW are they expensive to get built! We wanted to save our marriage and have this done but I believe we'll just have to fuss at each other again while we build our own, LOL!
This time things will be different.. no seaming of liner(we had to replace this one because of a leak) skimmers and bottom drains will be factory made instead of DIY and filtration, filtration , filtration...
I'm hoping that when we put our other place on the market for sale that potential owners will find the beauty in the pond.
Thanks,
Bonnie
Yikes!!! Expensive breakfast!!!!!
Next to a night raiding raccoon that's my worst nightmare.
Bonnie, beautiful pictures. How many gallons in each pond and how deep are they? I really enjoyed taking a peek! Your fish look great (colors are very bright).
Yes unfortunately we've lost a few fish due to the darn herons but luckily never had an problems with raccoons other than the one time that I was getting rid of alot of my goldies so I decided I'd keep them in a kiddy pool for a few days, the racoon(s) made a total mess of things in just one night!
Thank you Linda, the main koi pond is from 2' to alittle over 3' deep at the deepest point and we've estimated approx. 6,500 gallons.
The lower pond is 2.5' deep if I recall and it's approx. 2,000 gallons.
It's really nice!!!!
Wow, your ponds are beautiful and you guys did it yourself---makes it more beautiful. There was a ton of work put in those ponds and waterfalls. The rock work is great. too. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. One more compliment---someone in this family is really creative and artistic.. Laverne
Bonnie, would you be so kind to share with other dyi's on how you made the skimmer filter stuff? I made my own, but need to do some tweeking and what to build a bigger pond later. And share what not to do? LOL
Joyce
Wow, I have to echo what everyone else has said, what a gorgeous pond, location, and design! And, your pictures are beautiful. I too would be very interested in detailed info on your filter/skimmer/pump also... We had a big pond in AZ that we built ourselves, and we have a small one here that we inhereited... don't know if another big one is in our future or not but I'd be interested to hear what you have learned. Thanks for sharing, love the pics.
p.s. We had to deal with a few herons as well...
Brenda
