The One that Started It All and a Few More . . .

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

I've been admiring pictures of my DG friend, RJ's Pink Lemonade hibiscus going on two years now. I knew he got it from a mutual friend of ours who bought it at Bloomers, a nursery in my area that specializes in tropical hibiscus. I took another DG friend who was visiting from the Dallas area plant shopping one weekend, and that started it all. I bought this one and a double pink called Mary Morgan.

I just love the colors of Pink Lemonade.

Then Rita had to go and post a picture of her Lavendar Blush hibiscus that she bought while we were plant shopping

and I HAD TO HAVE IT so last weekend I picked me up one and took a few pictures to send her since she lives too far to go with me. Rita and I are avid plant shopping buddies. It's probably a good thing that we live far apart or our DH's would probably take away our checkbooks.

I didn't do a good job of getting cultivar names. This one was Bridal something or other. I should have written em down. I kinda like this one.

I don't do orange at all but I snipped this cause Rita loves orange and the pictures were for her since she couldn't go with me.

Hi phughes,

All are very beautiful. It looks like the lavender one (#3) is Smokey Mountain. The little pink looks like Whirlwind. Anne is looking for it. Its uncanny but the first bloom looks identical to Bienvenue. The 5th big pink is Wild @ heart. Thanks for sharing!!!

Too pretty for words. Like Wild @ Heart & Smokey Mountain best. You're lucky that you can find such lovely ones close to where you live. Thanks for sharing Patty.

Thanks Wilfred! Anything with pink in it seems to strike my fancy.

I want a pink one and I'm looking for one that is mostly white. I saw one at The Plant Ranch the other day and I may go back and get it. They had a pink too (I think) might have been at Lowe's. I seem to spend a lot of time at both!

Nice photos, phughes. My favorite is #3, and if I never learn its name, I cannot order it. :)

I believe #3 is called Smokey Mountain.
