spider mites are so difficult to get kill in my part of the world. The only thing that really works is a good washing with water .. I go over the leaves with my hands.. especially the undersides... I lose a few leaves but it works. I have to repeat also. They hate moisture. My smaller plants I dunk under water to wash them off. I have tried soap, neem, and stronger insecticides without great success... plain water works best for me.

To get rid of spider mites, you have to re-spray 7 days after the first spray to get rid of any mites that hatched. Neem works by suffocation. So be sure you have complete coverage. The best thing to do is to get rid of all but the smallest leaves. Don't leave any diseased leaves lying around. Neem oil will burn the leaves on a hot day. If the daytime temperatures go above 85ºF, spray early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Don't worry about leaf loss. New ones will quickly grow to replace what you removed. If Neem doesn't work, Bayer's systemic is very effective against spider mites.

Bettydee, how do you use the Bayer's systemic? What strength?
