I have an observation and a totally different question for

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

anyone who loves to watch birds in their own yards. The first is that yesterday much to my surprise 4 Baltimore Orioles visited my loquat tree for the fruit and stayed about 30 minutes or so. This is the first time that I have ever seen BOs but there is no mistaking them and after looking all this up found that they are headed up north for home. They really love loquats!
The second thing is that we have Carolina Wrens here and they just sing up a storm. We would like to know why they are singing so loudly. At least one has been here for some time and would favor us w/a song occasionally but the ones that are here now are noisy (nicely). We figure that they are calling for some reason. Could you hazard a guess as to what that reason is? Thanks in advance.

The wrens are probably having a territorial dispute - he who sings loudest owns the most land.

Our Carolina wrens stay with us year round, and they just seem to be noisy by nature. Sometimes, it seems that one will just talk to himself while searching for bugs!
