Hairdo!

Kent, WA

I know there was an old post about chicken hairdos and I finally got a picture that I wanted to post so I started a new thread. This is Frizzle. There is a long story to go along with him. He was in the batch I ordered from McMurray last year. I had ordered two frizzle and one did not frizzle and Frizzle did this. He is the sadest looking chicken around. He lives mostly in the storage side of the chicken coop since he is scared of his own shadow. This weekend I and Papa and Grandma worked on making a leanto/storageshed into a divided chicken run area. Figured we can keep any special needs chickens in one area, turkeys in another and anyone we want to breed in another. Just waiting for some grass seed to grow in the run area's.

Hi Karbear!! Frizzle looks more like frazzled. This is cute, except one thing. I ordered birds also from Murray Mcmurray several times. I have noticed several chickens have been cross breeds, which tells me their subcontractors can't be trusted with what they are delivering to McMurray. In my last batch I had two naked necked marans. My wife noticed it first and upon inspection I told her they were worthless as marans breeds. McMurray is not cheap to buy and I don't like gett sub-standard species. I know they aren't for show, but they should be true to breed if one wanted to breed them. Cross breeds are fine if one does not care but I want what I ordered not what someone wants to get rid of. I no longer order from them. Another thing was on Feb 2 I received a shipment of thirty eight birds, upon arrival all were deceased except four. They send me a replacement order on Mar 2nd, these birds were isolated from all others, after two week and a couple dead birds, they started droping like flies I was loosing at least one bird every day, and at one point lost six in one day. Finally I was able to salvage six birds from that entire shipment. They only guarantee liviabitity for 48 hours, These birds came with a virus straight from the Hatchery. I never contacted them as I had already read their policy and was to angry to argue with telephone personell. They just will not get my business ever again. If you read their comment postings you will see what I mean. Haystack

Frizzle is definitley frazzled! We love him though. I'm hoping with a lot of care, his own area and beautiful sunshine he can grow some more feathers. :)

ROFLOL!!! That is one cool chicken! Yes, I always route for the odd ones.
Frazzled yes.
Great Uncle. I hope you called them about the breed issue. They need to narrow down which farm is sending cross breeds. Thats not right. They dont know what you are using them for.
Like breeders or show. Shame on them.
