At my feeders this morning...

Grapeland, TX

I have to take some time this week to learn how to use my camera. This morning I have at my feeders...a painted bunting, several indigo buntings, all of my cardinals and for the first time a Rose Breasted Groesbeak. It is a beautiful sight out there this morning. Looks like easter morning after the easter bunny has come, lol.

and...my hubby is ecstatic. we just built a new house and moved in this past october. one of the first things he did was put up a new martin house. we had 2 at our other place. we always get martins around the end of feb/first part of march...so, when they didn't come in he was very sad. we have had 2 show up in the last couple of days and taken up residence. don't know if they are stragglers or what but he is happy.

It sounds like you have a colorful group of birds visiting that new home. Congratulations on your new home and hope you and the birds will enjoy yourselves.

we are in the country and the house is basically surrounded on all 4 sides by plenty of trees, etc. My new gardens are geared to attract birds, hummers and butterflies and I have several feeders and water areas for them. We have 2 bluebird houses so far(although may have to move one...it hasn't found a renter yet). Some of the fields around us are also planted with peanuts, watermelon, peas, etc so there is plenty for the birds to feast on here.
