I killied worms with bokashi juice

New Orleans, LA(Zone 9a)

A week or so ago, I buried some fermented bokashi in my garden. Yesterday morning, I was digging a large hole to plant a shrub. The soil that was removed was full of worms, and since I wasn't going to put this soil back, I thought I'd remove the worms & put them on top of the buried bokashi. They all dived right in.

Today, I drained the juice off the current fermenting bokashi. About 2 cups worth. Since I didn't need it in the garden, I thought I'd just pour it on top of the buried bokashi. As soon as I did, worms started coming to the surface, wiggling all around like crazy. Half an hour later, they were all dead.

I had no idea this juice was so strong. When I use it in the garden, I dilute it down to about 1 teaspoon per gallon, which is pretty weak. Now I wonder if I've totally contaminated the batch of buried bokashi. Worms are needed to process it, and I may have just killed them all. Is there anything I can do now?

Hmmmm, Jomoncon, could you drench the area where you poured the Bokashi juice with a lot of water to dilute it?

I agree with CCG - add lots of water to dilute it. The juice coming from your Bokashi bucket should be acidic. Remember, you are pickling the food waste. When you pour undiluted Bokashi juice onto the soil, it is somewhat like pouring vineagar onto it. Always dilute Bokashi juice when you use it.
