No photos yet but I wanted to tell you anyway. I left my bluebird house up over the winter and had no birds in it since last fall. I cleaned it up around the middle of February and put it back up. I had NC Chickadees, wrens, and eastern bluebirds visit but no nests. I checked on it 2 weeks ago before we went to Virginia Beach after Easter and noticed a nest but I could never find out which bird(s) were the owners.
Yesterday as I was mowing the lawn I drove by the birdhouse and noticed a pair of eyes staring our at me - then a female bluebird flew out. I checked inside and found 3 eggs. I am very pleased. This will be our second brood. I hope that there are more eggs on the way as my first pair last year only had 3.
I will take some photos and post them as they make themselves available
What a Surprise- first Bluebirds this year
Congratulations blue!!
Congratulations Blue and best wishes for a happy BB season!
Oh, that's wonderful! Love the pic, too!
How neat!
Nice pics blue! That's a handsome couple.
Well, they surprised me again. I was mowing the lawn today (between rain storms) and looked into the nest to see how they were doing with the eggs. I expected them to hatch today or tomorrow (5/7/09). I found 5 little nestlings with their beginning feathers!!! I would say they hatched about 2 or 3 days ago. Here are a couple of photos.
Oh that is great!! Congratulations!!
