New lambs in NH

Alfred Station, NY(Zone 5b)

Well, the watched pot finally boiled this afternoon. :-D Onyx had two black ewe lambs. She's a first time mom, and so far has done a great job, although she seems more interested in eating right now, but Onyx is always interested in eating...

Another photo of just one of the lambs. They weighed 7.5 and 7.25lbs. This is the bigger one.

Awww, really cute. Do they have names yet?

Wow.. that is really close in size! Which I would think is a very good thing.. They are darling! They sure seem to have their legs under em good already! So cute! Congratulations!

Porkpal, no names yet. Names usually come to me at some point. Some breeders pick names based on the letter code for the year that the registry uses. This year is "W" so some will pick all names beginning with W. I don't know what I'll do yet.

ZZ... yeah, it's nice when they are similar in size. It seems to indicate that neither had an advantage in utero, and both got equal nutrition. Our first year, the first ewe to lamb had a 9.5 lb ram followed by a 6 lb ewe. The ewe was sort of like a preemie (although not really), and needed tube feeding for a couple days until her suckling reflex finally kicked in. The ram was born and was up within 5-10 minutes. She on the other hand couldn't even hold her head up.

Hay... don't be embarrassed. My DH gets all gushy too and talks baby-talk to them. :)

I agree with Galles.. just go with it Hay.. you're still there ♥ Nothin sweeter than a man with a heart.

W is not an easy one!

I'm feeling better already. My image seemed so shatteredLOL

What about (WOOLY)?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh I love them!! Now that I've got my own lambs, I've got an even bigger appreciation for others' lambs. I really like how similar they are in size. It's weird how Clover's ram lamb was more than twice the size of her ewe lamb. The boy is surging ahead in size and energy - she is a little behind.

Hey, I just found this picture of Onyx when she was a lamb. This is her and her sister Cocoa, and their mother Orange. Orange was the one with the really big udder. It's neat to come full circle to where Onyx now has her own lambs.
