A Question for PalmBob

Could you tell me, what is your opinion of x-raying a pregnant bitch? I have puppies due in less than two weeks, and I am getting conflicting information. Some say it is good to know how many to expect, so you are sure when she has had them all, others say it is unnecessary, and exposes the mom to germs from the vet office, and the stress of x-raying her, and the count isn't always accurate.

This is my first litter in quite a long time, and while I've never had x-raying done before, I would consider it, if there is a real benefit. What are the thoughts of the veterinary community on this? Is this just something extra to make money on, or is there a real benefit to having it done?

Has anyone here had their girls x-rayed? What was your experience?
