What did you think of that wind today?

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

It was a tad nippy today with the wind and the temps

Here in the Piedmont the wind blew hard and knocked down a tree...... the tree hit a powerline ......and the sparks set the woods on fire..... and knocked out all the electric...

I probably spent 50 bucks in propane for the generator.

Wow! I hadn't heard about that. Sounds kinda scary. Nothing like that down this way. Hope the fire didn't do too much damage.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

No - it was in the woods. But the response from the electric company was unbelievable..there were at least 4 huge trucks and a bunch of workers too. Not sure why so much but I figure they had their reasons.

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Wow indeed .. the wind was just annoying here! Glad everything is ok.

Since I spent the day inside working, I can only say that I saw the wind blowing several times as I got a glance out the window. Didn't realize how bad it was, though.

Glad things are getting back to normal for you, Missingrosie.

Thanks. All is well.

Where did that wind come from? Was it forecast? It really caught me off-guard. I was wearing shorts, thinking it was going to me a seasonable day. Did have a jacket on, it being Spring, but still.....Had just gathered all the winter's limbs and branches out of the yard this weekend. Now, its a mess again. My darn Willow Oak--seems like it sheds like a dog..

We had some awesome winds way down here. All the plants seems dried out although the soil is moist. There was a weather alert for gusts up to 45 MPH but I don't think we got anywhere near that.

Just heard onthe radio that parts of Barefoort Landing in Myrtle Beach have been evacuated due to an out of control wildfire. Apparently 40 homes have already been destroyed. The flames were fanned by the high winds.

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

OMG! 40 homes? That's awful. I mowed the lawn yesterday with a sweatshirt on and I'm still using my electric blanket at night. I'm ready for the 80's that are heading our way.

That was my fear that the fire would get out of control with the wind. We had rain the previous two days so I think that helped.

Between the pollen and the wind, my patients are about ready to have a fit. The asthma is stimulated by cold air, dry air AND pollen and there was all three going at once yesterday.

Bet the Urgent Cares were busy as heck!

Yote - I didn't hear anything about those winds in the forecast and so I think it caught a lot off guard.

Our weather guy mentioned it in passing, but didn't make a big deal out of it.
