Scorpionfly (Panorpa americana)
Hello. I just wanted to let you know that this scorpionfly actually belongs to the species P. nuptialis.

thank you for your comments. I will forward to the Bug Files people. Unless the distinctions are very subtle, there seems to be confusion bet p. americana and p. nuptialis. Definitelyi confused me.
The Panorpidae are a very difficult group. P. nuptialis, americana, and lugubris are the only 3 that are readily distinguishable in N. America, and even then I have to take a second glance when trying to distinguish the first 2.
the photos have been moved . thank you so much for your postings.
