Here are a few blooms from this month starting with Hibiscus "C N Stars" blooming today.
Hibiscus Blooms From Ft Flowerdale, FL April 1-22, 2009
very pretty. Thank you for posting those beautiful hibbies
Great pictures Jon, I especially like your 'Creme De La Creme'
And 'Tigerama', both are very striking to me.
Every time you post a picture of Misbehavin, my heart nearly stops! I just have to find that one somewhere, its stunning. And Sleeping Beauty really is a beauty.
Thanks Cue Chik, Dave and Kathy. Creme De La Creme gets its silvery glow after the bloom has been open a half day or so. Misbehavin is definitely one of my very favorites. It's flowers are so consistent in form and it was one of the better bloomers for me even during last summers heat here in South Florida. I recall reading its one of the finalists for the 2009 Hibiscus Of The Year Award.
Jon
Absolutely Beautiful Jon!!!
Love all your pics; however, Creme de la Creme with its bull's eye center is an eye-catcher. Snug, :o)
Wow Jon, they are all gorgeous!! I agree with FlaChick, in that I've got to find a Misbehavin. Every time I see a pic of that one, it makes me drool a little, lol! Love the dark colors of your day 1 Rum Raisin too, just stunning.
I'm so excited to see your CN Stars!! I can hardly wait until mine blooms!!! I had my very first Eye of Kali bloom yesterday and am SO thrilled with that cultivar - I think it's even prettier in person :-) My Creme de la Creme, is a sad stick right now, and I'm hoping it will come back. Maybe I'll show mine your picture to inspire it...
karen
Thanks for the kind words Snug, Robert and Karen. They are much much appreciated.
Jon
Oooo, Wahini has all my fav colors. I am feeling very smug as I scored a small Mis Behavin recently.
I had no idea how to pronounce Wahine or what it actually meant until a friend told me a couple of days ago. I believe it's pronounced "Wah-hee-nay" and translates to "Woman" in Hawaiian. Interesting.
Jon
ardesia, do tell. How can one score a 'Mis Behavin'? Inquiring minds have to know...that bloom is breathtaking!
Hey Alice,
Did you get 1 from Randy in florida? I've been trying but he's out. It is a beautiful bloom. Jon has such a beautiful setting with his place, it makes it even more beautiful!!!
Robert
Yes, I believe it was Randy. After I saw Jon's picture last fall I went on a hunt and contacted everyone who advertises or is mentioned in the "Seed Pod" from the American Hibiscus Society. I don't really care for small plants; hibiscus are such slow growers, but Jon's photos sent me over the edge.
I went over the edge in another way when DH accidently knocked the buds off Mis B recently. LOL
Can I get in on the Randy connection? Contact info? I'd really love a plant as well.
thanks,
dee
Hi Dee,
Randy is at Tried and True hibiscus but the only thing is, I dont think he ships to california. Maybe he has changed his shipping policy though.
Robert
I am embarrassed to admit I do not know how to contact him again. He did send cultural directions but I can't find them to see the name of his business. I believe I remember the package came from another name still. Sorry I am no help.
As mentioned earlier, this plant was ordered last fall; it took a while to get it.
That's it, thanks Robert. We cross posted. :-)
