Could we have one in Simpsonville or Newberry?
S.C. Roundup
That would be awesome!
Count me in!
OH! OH! Simpsonville, PLEASE!!! I could actually go....
Either one would be ok with me.
I can't travel long distances because of my animals.
Can or will anyone step up to host or organize us a roundup?
I can bring food & plants.

Newberry might be easier than Simpsonville, but either is fine with me.
christmascactus, I have the same issue. If I can't get home to feed in time, the cows look for their own ;(. It limits me unless my SO is home. I can bring food and plants, too, but mostly tomato plants. Food is definite.
I'm not sure how far Newberry is from me, I'll look it up. Why would it be easier, since I'm not familiar with it......
Margo
catmad, do you know where Laurens is?
Newberry is about 20 something miles below Laurens.
Newberry is sure a shorter trip from the lower state than Simpsonville, but I'd try to come to wherever it was.
Deb
Newberry would be preferable for me as well :)
ChristmasCactus, where are you located, are you in Newberry? Is there a place that could host a swap for a day or an afternoon?
No, I'm in the upper western part of the state-above Laurens.
I can't host or organize but sure can help out.
I thought Newberry would be a good place for most folks to meet.
I can't drive too far & can only make day trips because of my animals.
Simpsonville would definately work for me!!!!
We have a member who lives in Newberry and for the life of me I can't remember her DG name at the moment. I think her real name is Deanna - maybe.......
Carter and Holmes Orchids (they have lots of other stuff too) is in Newberry and is always worth a visit.
Yep, Deanna (rednyr) is from Newberry.
Yeah, that's her. BTW, where has she been?????
She the one I was thinking of too & could not remember her name.
Is she still here?
Come to think of it, I haven't seen her here in a while myself.
I am here LOl sorry ya'll - I went back to my old job from two years ago (left the garden nursery and went back to my pc job) and I am around pc's all day so when I get home...well you know how that goes....
Are you thinking of a round up in Newberry? If so let's just have it at my house LOL zero costs, BBQ on the deck, clean bathrooms (ok of the kids don't wreck them first LOL)....you can all tell me what I'm doing wrong in my yard!
LMK if there's an interest - I missed the Asheville roundup this past weekend due to going to Conway to see my son play at the Hard Rock Cafe so I am jonesing big time for some plant time...
Deanna
Deanna, give us a date and we will come!
We can all bring whatever we want to throw on the grill and a side dish.
Lorie in Columbia
tell you what - with the heat upon us coming very soon...why don't those with a sincere interest throw out some dates that work for them - we should post too in the roundup forum...be glad to help however I can...mi casa su casa....
Deanna, How nice of you to offer your home!
Deanna, how about the morning of the 16th May? I think that this weekend would be too soon (and it is Mothers Day on Sunday). I will be able to attend then, but not on the 23rd (will be in Orlando for a Boy Scout Nationals meeting that week).
That would get us time to pot some things up, do some quick online trading, and come up and do it! More like a tailgate swap than a formal roundup.
Sometimes fast is better!
wow the 16th you move fast! LOL not that mind, strike while the irons hot...let me send a dmail so the folks around us and see what interest we can strike up that quickly and my house is no problem...I have a large grassy side yard(about 150' by 40), plenty of outdoor hoses for watering, so I'm in as long as others are too :)~
Deanna
Wouldn't it be easier to just take the plants with roots, Like as if you were sending them in the mail? I would think Most people attending wouldn't live far from Newberry and that way they could just take the plants home and pot or plant, Whichever they prefere. Just a thought.
I 'll check and see if I can work it out so I can be there. Don't have much to swap, but maybe can come up with a few things.
Real nice of you to offer, Deanna. :)
Deb
IRIS - I believe you are right - however, I do have many pots that folks can use if they wish if they have to travel any distance
Is this gonna be in the southern part of the state?? I'm tryng to find a Ru somewhere that I could go to....Problem is . I can't drive real far in one day.... and because of dog cant stay the night with out him, although he it =s a service animal as I am dissabled, so.....maybe I need to look a t a map and check out hotels availability.
Thats Great! And I meant to say "Thankyou" for offering your home above, Sorry, Rushing here, Just got done painting a cieling!
I wish Nc & Sc could come together somewhere near ...maybe Rock Hill and do a joint RU...that would be awesome.
You guys do move fast. I also don't have a whole lot to trade this time of year - I'll have tons of banana pups later in the summer though. I'm just hoping I can schedule this in - been so hectic lately.
perhaps we should do it the weekend after May 23rd? just a thought...I'm all for impromptu but I would like to be able to have those that would like to come to be able to plan ahead... :)
Birdie - I just had dinner with 3 clients from Winston Salem - it was a 3 1/2 hr drive for them one way if that helps you out at all
Deanna, you are the host- Choose a day! Whatever works best for you!
Not everyone will be able to come in every weekend no matter what and no matter how much time they are given.
Likewise if the 23rd works for you and most everyone else, go for it! You are close enough that I could even run up early in that week and drop plants off that people need.
Cheers
Lorie in Cola
well Lorie if not much interest shows you and I should sneak off for some plant therapy oogling...I was bummed to miss the sale at the Botanical this weekend...did you go?
Nope, could not go. Had to help with my garden club plant sale. What sorts of plant stuff is going on in Newberry this weekend?
Deanna, iffen you decide to hold the RU, you could post it on the RU form as a Quickie "Come as you are with what ya got" Roundup! That would let folks know that it is fast and very informal!
There were a lot us in SC that were not able to go to the big one.
I can come any day that best suits everyone.
I have plants to bring but may not be potted up.
Can you post the link to the roundup threat?
Ok...well, too far for my bones to drive, but the thought was nice. I lived in Charleston back in early '70's while in USAF. Sure enjoyed the weather and the scenery.
For anyone interested in an impromptu gathering something in late May to very early June please visit:
