I saw a hummingbird last week dining on my Fuschia; and the first dragonfly on the weekend.
Xeramtheum, You should be getting humming birds anytime now :)
ascholz, Congrats on your HB sighting! Nice to know you seen your first dragonfly, That means more will be comming in!
Still haven't seen one unless they are visiting when I'm not around .. or they don't like the new feeder .. or it might be too windy or ....
I won't hold my breath, but I'm looking forward to when I finally see one!

X, I was happily surprised to see mine sipping from the Fuschia, so today I went and bought another HB favorite and another feeder! :-) I hope you see one soon!
IRIS, thanks.
Amy
Xeramtheum, I felt the same way before I seen mine, They seemed to be all around my area according to the map, Just NOT in my yard!!! Then, Boom, They were here! I'm sure you will be seeing one soon!
ascholz, Your Welcome! Hope you see some at your new feeders!
All I have blooming right now are sweet peas and roses.

I saw a dragonfly here in Cary, NC on Thursday, 4/23, but no hummers yet.
I want whatever kind of camera took that shot of the dragon fly. Amazing!
(Probably could use some photography lessons too. LOL)
Saw my first hummer about a month a go, but none since. Have seen monarch butterflies, and a black Swallowtail. Don't they (the BST) like Passionvine?
I have one that I just replanted.
REBLOOMER, Hopefully, you'll be seeing Hummers soon! :)
ardesia, It was a point and shoot camera, Olympus C-750 UltrZoom, Set for close up and macro. Very easy camera for photography, But, Not good for trying to catch something quick as it definately has lag in that catorgory, But, For normal photos and close ups, It's pretty good!
pyromomma, I'm surprised that you seen a hummer a month ago and none since, Do you have feeders hung out?
I have seen monarchs and black Swallowtails too recently, But, Not very many yet. I have passionvine also, But, I honestly don't remember if the buitterflys were attracted to it or not last year. I'm going to have to keep an eye on it this year!
They will be back, I have feeders out and am changing the nectar every few days.
Had one or two dragonflies buzzing around this past weekend in Raleigh as well. I think it's actually the first time we've seen them in our yard.
I think the early sightings of dragonflies is a sign it's going to be a long hot summer.
I saw my first Hummer of the season on 05/01, in the early evening. It made my day. I have red ant motes hanging on my flatbed bird feeder and on my hummingbird feeder. She hovered at the flatbed, then must have caught sight of the hummingbird feeder and zoomed over. I'd almost forgotten how small they really are, after watching other birds during the winter.
Congrats REBLOOMER!
