We have had a greenhouse for about 5 years now. It is frmed with treated lumber , is 12 X 24 and is covered with a fiberglass currugated sheeting. We have a furnace installed and it is floored with landscape fabric. We enjoy many winter hours just sitting in it and enjoying the greenery. We have had one drawback. The darn thing gets about an inch or so of water in it after a heavy rain so this past week we have been installing a floor. We started with 2X4 joists and then covered them with a 3/4 inch pressure treated ply wood sheeting. This has made an incredible difference in the interior and we have put in a couple of old chairs. We haave been spending more and more time in the greenhouse and the flooring has made a great difference....almost like another room. We use the greenouse as a storage facility for our tropicals do to the fact that we have some cold weather here in Henderson, Tx. during the winter. We have a collection of dessert bananas that we hope we can get to bear fruit this next year.
our greenhouse
Woody,
Your greenhouse sounds great - glad to hear the new floor helped the water problem. I am jealous - we only have a PVC/plastic greenhouse and won't be able to use it in the winter. This was the first year we had a greenhouse and we are already thinking of upgrading because I love it so much in there! Enjoy!

Woody I don't mind the water on the floor of my green house it keeps the humidity up and my plants love it. I have a 20X40 house and heat it with propane and it cost quite a bit to keep in the winter and as you can see I live quite a ways from you ha ha ha
Hi Arptiger...you say that you heat with propane..A friend of mine uses her tank from her gas grill and has bought a camping heater for the top. She says it works great. is this what you do also
Sandy,
I use the same system as your friend and it works great....I normally only use one tank with the little heater but last winter we had a cold winter for this area and I had to use two of those heaters... twice....I didn't loose a thing. My GreenHouse is 16x32.
Glory and Sandy, there's no chance of a fire? This sounds like just what I need!! you mean like a little Coleman camp stove?? (that uses propane)
Hi Doglover I have a home furnice with a thermostat on it the same kind I use in a home and a 20X40 house with about a 15ft peak. I think if I had a lower peak I could heat with less propane. of course I keep baskets hanging from the top. I have a 250 gal tank and have to fill it about three or four times a year depending on the weather So you see I have some expensive plants by the time spring get here
whoa, I could never do that!!! propane was so expensive here last year, we could barely heat the house. and you're a zone higher than me!!! :(
