Do they smell as lovely as they look? Something blooming around here smells wonderful, I don't know what.
Here are dwarf bachelor buttons.

I didn't know we could grow bachelor buttons in north Texas! Not that I need any other perennials currently. I ordered way too much this spring. Will have to see what comes back next year.

Lindatx8,

I have a mock orange that just finished blooming. I discovered it in an overgrown wooded area of my yard. It is a kind of leggy, sparse looking plant. I am wondering if I pruned back the long branches, would it fill out or would it die. Anyone know? If I prune it how much should I do tobe safe cutting it back?

Every time I see the Blue Eyed grass, I like it more and more!

Irwells50, I got bachelor buttons to grow and bloom from seed last year, but they didn't come up this year...well if they did, they haven't bloomed yet for me, and I don't recognize them.

Lot's of pretty flowers! I also enjoyed seeing all the wildfowers on a drive to Abilene and back this past weekend. Quite a few bluebonnets, but, of course, nothing like it is in rainy years. Beautiful indian paintbrush, lot's of a low growing purple verbena (does anyone know what kind that is?) Maybe it's the same as what you have pictured above, texasrockgarden.

Also quite a bit of some kind of plant that has purple "spires" on it like many salvia grow. The spires seemed to reach about 2' high. Does anyone know what that is?

Should have stopped to take pictures, but was in a hurry to get back to Fredericksburg to go to the Wildseed Farms before they closed. Would you believe they had no field of bluebonnets! I was surprised. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they now have whtie bluebonnet seeds. Picked up a pack, we'll see how they do. The poppy fields were lovely.

I love driving by the poppy fields in Stonewall! They're absolutely breathtaking!

Found an armadillo in the garden trying to get away with one of my plants, pot and all.

I thought cats were supposed to keep the dillos away from the garden. Yeah, right!

That's the kind of dillo I could live with, Jerry....one that doesn't dig all over the place! I see your cactus is as pretty as mine is! I'm afraid that cats don't keep that much out of the garden. Wish mine could even stop the coons from stealing catfood!

The bachelor buttons are from seed. I have a few here that were reseeded. I didn't know they could grow here until I saw a beautiful garden with BB and poppies! I took a while to ID the BB. (Long before DG)

We've been seeing a mockingbird eating our catfood! Gives a whole new image to the Sylvester/Tweety scenario!

Last of the "blues"
Funny animals!I would like to have seen that armadillo. I remember a "funny video" with a bird attacking a dog. (Wait that reminds me of The Birds)
