I have a beautiful blue copper Marans that Catscan gave me.. Her first egg is the darker one. (The big one is a RIR egg for comparison) I watched her all morning.. waiting and waiting.. Finally I see the lil dark spot under her! Yipee!!!
The white egg was on the floor in the corner.. All I have in that pen are Marans, Penedesenca cross, and one what we think is a red sex link... and....

What a beautiful egg, looks like a marans egg to me. ZZ's how do you rate?? I want some blue copper marans to. ZZ's do you have a roo to fertilize the blue copper egg?? That is what I eventually want to develope, the blue copper and a couple other marans that are rare. Hay

Congrats on your eggs ZZ! Now, try to candle that egg... that is what I've been trying to see inside for the past however many days!!
Can you see the hidden pictures in those posters that look like a blur? Claire said she couldn't and she has a hard time seeing anything in them too... I can see in them, not nearly as good as the others, but I can see veins or movement or a blood ring.. that's about it. You have to "relax" your eyes..
Now I probably sound crazy.. LOL
I have a real problem seeing them... so maybe there is something to it. I could see in the lighter ones, enough to see veins... but the really dark ones, I can't even see the air pocket!
Melissa! I can't even see anything in the light brown eggs. My wife said, honey your looking with the wrong eye. I'm blind in one eye. LOL I told her if I used my good eye then how was I going to keep an eye on her. Candling is fun but very difficult for me. I'm not surprised that ZZ 's can see through dark eggs. She is one of a kind. And she is good at hatching and sexing birds also. I hate talented people like her. But she is my bud.
Shame you have to keep an eye on your wife hay, but I bet she has to keep 2 eyes on you doesn't she?
