Ramona ?

Is this one prone to Wilt? I was sure I heard someone say that here?

Delaware, OH

ramona wilts back for me. i have learned to not touch her or try and position any stems. when i do they almost aways wilt back BROWN. let's distinguish BLACK wilt from BROWN. BLACK is the fungal type. BROWN is the i am tired, i need water, i can't support this growth wilt.
it grows very agressively as soon as the weather gets hot. it is related to sieboldi, the warmer zone clem. i have never had a hardiness issue, just brown wilt.
my ramonas that are now 4 to 5 years old are behaving better, but i also do not touch them much.

Thanks Guru......I am really going to just try to stick with easy care - no worry clematis....at least that is what I am looking for. Thanks for the info. :)

CG..wow..I've had mine for the same amount of time and fortunately with me always tying her up with my climbing rose "Royal Sunset"....never have either of the two I have wilted...you may be onto her liking warmer climates..she does splendidly here...and doesn't seem to mind me messin' with her...one lady in Ohio says she cuts her back halfway on her site...I've never pruned mine but she is now at the top of my pergola and growing along the top...Jeanne

on top of the annual fussiness with ramona, my main one(the one in the photo above) is not showing this year yet...but another display that includes her is already growing. we'll see. must be it be the sieboldi in her.

Guru and Jeanne both your photo's are just lovely...she certainly does have a pretty blue colour. There are so many clem's I want but so little space LOL......

Delaware, OH

i really find, as it comes to clems that most gardens have more space that people think. anywhere there is room for one clem, there is ususally room for two or three. when you think about shrubs they can go thru, doubling up on existing shrubs, ground cover clems in borders and beds.....i love putting multiples on structures vs one, the displays can be fuller and nicer. and then of course if you are really out of space, there is the container aspect.
