Neighbor helped me out with some Gulf Coast Penstemon (P. tenuis) last year. This year, only two of them came back, but of those, one of them has a little baby next to it which is not one I planted. This is the top of the larger of the two, which is under the eaves and gets only moderate morning sun. It's really tall now, almost up to my waist. Sorry for the background, but I haven't figure out how to control the camera's depth of field, after some considerable fiddling, even.

I love that one also. Someone gave me some at a plant swap years ago and I've grown them ever since!
they tend to be short-lived for me,lasting only 2-3 yrs but they will seed about but not in a bad way
