Finally!!!

Scott Bar, CA(Zone 6a)

Got a cutting 3 years ago as a bonus in a trade. It gave me its first flower last night--Over 7 inches across. Don't know which hybrid this is but it was sure worth the wait.

Thanks for the comments. It sure looks like 'Magic Carpet'--Thanks for the link! Unlike my traditional E. oxypetalum the bloom is still perfect this (the second) morning. I expected it to be limp when I got up. What a treat.

Scott Bar, CA(Zone 6a)

You are most welcome. The flower stayed perfect for 3 days! It had too be the brightest flower I've ever grown. Wow--and more buds coming!!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

They are fantastic when they bloom aren't they?! The first time you see it, they give you that WOW feeling, they are just so stunning. Always a big let down when they are done for the season, way too short.

Off topic, by the way Bill, I saw your Scott Bar gold pics in an older thread a few months back, very impressive. We are dabbling in a little prospecting just this past year but only with a Wolf sluice box so far and an occasional day trip to the gold country, not much in returns, I tease hubby, come on, I need my nugget! Daughter and family live in McCloud so we love exploring when we visit up there and plan on trying out a few GPAA claims in the area this summer.

Scott Bar, CA(Zone 6a)

Sue,

Hope you have great luck and get that nugget! I am looking forward to the new mining season too. It is always a great adventure.

Here is the second flower--They are exciting! I kind of liked the back-lighting.

Bill, it is lovely. The enlarged view of your Epi bloom is beautiful on my laptop.
