Poor Kentucky warbler

Fox Island, WA(Zone 8b)

This little Kentucky warbler just flew into (or was possibly blown into) the back door. There were some nasty storms coming through and it got really windy, so I am not sure exactly what happened. It was on the ground not moving for several minutes, and I thought it was dead. I picked it up, and at first it didn't move or open its eyes.

But eventually I felt a little kick and some squirming of the wings, so I set it back down gently in a sheltered part of the garden to see what it could do. It still looked pretty shaken up, and didn't have it's eyes open.

It just sat there a while, then I finally saw it open its eyes and take a look around

It slowly looked around for several more minutes before taking a few small hops around

And after resting a little more, took a few more hops around. It was starting to look pretty perky. This would have been a great photo if it weren't for those green leaves in the way

It was really starting to notice me by this time and looked like it was about ready to take off

One last stare down and then it was gone! Hooray for this little beauty. It has a long way to go before it reaches Kentucky, but is welcome to stay in Houston as long as it wants!

Hi BB - it's very easy - just go to the relevant species page (as linked above for KY Warbler), scroll down to "Upload an image of this bird", and follow the details there
