Looking for a good var. Creeping Phlox

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

...that's rather fast-spreading, possibly for ground cover.

I bought something at Lowe's (I know... ) marked down last year called Blue Moss Phlox, but can't find a real definitive match on PF.
It's been pathetic looking since the day I brought it home, and I was SURE I could nurse it back to health (ha!) however... not so much.

Do you have a better choice for a variety that would do well here in Texas? Even better in Xeriscaping.

(here's my pathetic little baby I almost couldn't recognize--although I have to admit it never died back over winter)

Phlox subulata does great.
I have both candy stripe http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/49968/
and

another ground cover that does great is Georgia Blue creeping speedwell.

In 9a, they both might appreciate some shade.

In 9a, keep the look out for
scaevola http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/246/
and

Another plant that is really great is Damianita daisy (Chrysactinia mexicana). It has been blooming for 2 weeks now. It will bloom more than once here. When it is not in bloom, the plant's foliage stays nice looking unlike the Phlox subulata which tends to suffer a bit in middle to late summer heat.

That's great! Thank you. Just added it to my wants, along with the creeping speedwell.
