Our mare, Cafe' Au Lait aka Coffee, had her foal this morning. A healthy little stallion we have named Awdda Ben. We will call him Ben.

Beautiful! What breed is he?
OH OH OHHHH so awesome Cajun... Congrats
Lookit them legs! :-) Congratulations!
He is a gaited mixture. His dam is Ky Mountain Pleasure and Standardbred and his sire is Standardbred, Tennessee Walker and Peruvian Passo.
He is adorable.......all legs.

DARLING! So cute with all those legs! Thank you for sharing.. such a great pic to start the day with! :)
Oh how adorable! I love that cute all-gangly-legged stage too - they look so fragile, and then you see them fill out and become so strong and muscular. It's quite a remarkable change!
They are wondrous as they grow.
Can you tell whether the baby is gaited yet?
Yes. He is still a bit uncoordinated. I imagine it's because he is all legs. But we took him and his Mom out of the stall today. We tied her in the barn hall with her feed and let him exercise under her watchful eyes. She kept calling him back to her but he romped a bit in circles around her. He was racking a circle around her. Tug was much more coordinated from the beginning and his gaiting came immediately and very proficient. I think it will take Ben a bit longer to get it all together. He is definitely a natural it will just take him a bit longer to master his own limbs. I'm sure we will see a great improvement in the next couple of weeks.
He's a beaut!!! You know Cajun I had those long adorable leggs when I was born to, but I never got those ooowwwwssss, and aaaawwwwwsssss. Come on girls, lets hear it for Haystack. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa.LOL
I sure hope your knees were never as big and knobby as Ben's. LOL
So Haystack, are you gaited too?
Maybe the "amble"?
Oh what a funny picture! It looks like his front end is trying to go left while his back end is headed right, and the middle of him is stuck having to decide who to follow!
If you look close at his mouth you can see he was going through all the motions of scratching himself but his mouth was in the wrong place. He did the same thing before he stood for the first time. He was looking at his Mom's udder and sucking with his mouth. I guess he is a big believer in mind over matter. LOL
That is toooo funny! Next best thing to being there! LOL
I have a video of him trying to scratch but I still have to upload it to my photo bucket account.
He's beautiful CajunkinKY.
Too, too cute Porkpal. LOL I knew someone was going to get me! Haystack
Here is a video I took yesterday. You can see his racking gait very well. He moves just like his Momma.

I watched it twice! Soooo cute! Very smooth and very coordinated that baby is! That slide stop looked perfect. LOL Thank you for sharing that.. it was fun
Thanks. We are very happy with him. Started his halter and lead rope training yesterday. He's not as compliant as Tug but he is learning quickly.
