Susan Boyle - Get a tissue, turn up your sound, and enjoy!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

oh my - she's got pipes!
That must have been a little uncomfortable for those who were so smug in their prejudging of her. I'm so glad the reactions were all caught on film and hope the experience was a wake-up call for them.
I expect to hear more of her. Very rich and powerful voice!
Going back to watch it again!!!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I've watched it so many times and tear up every time. The song is beautiful, her voice is beautiful, Simon Cowell is stunned and actually looks happy, the audience started out embarrassed for her, the audience then gets behind her, she's happy . . . there are so many things that make this moving and many of them are not even about just her.

I hope this is the beginning of the new life she wants . . .

I thought I owned the CD of Les Mes, but guess I don't. I need to go buy it now. I do love the music.

Kathy,

I had heard about this on the radio yesterday and hadn't had a chance to look it up yet. Thanks for sharing the link... it may have taken me quite a while to get around to it otherwise. You are right, it was incredible and you are right, very very moving!

Portland, OR

I wonder if she likes to garden?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I was told about this earlier in the week, as well, but didn't get to it until it was sent to me at work. I'm so happy for her!!

Nancy - you'll find as time goes on (and you look at the other forums) that gardening is only a fraction of what we talk about at the "Walmart" of Dave's Garden. I just try to create a separate thread if the subject is not gardening.

If she doesn't garden she should......I believe she could make anything grow!!

Kewl. I hear that many Susan Boyle websites have popped up in the last few days, as well. What a fun phenomenon.

I've listened to both songs, 'Cry me a river' and the Les Miz one. It is incredible! Actually she is quiet cute. She looks like a true irish woman.

(Judi)Portland, OR

She is amazing. It is great that everyone has fallen in love with this woman and her wonderful voice. I think her 'unHollywood' appearance just adds to the attraction, and I hope they don't try to change her. Good for her!

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

I believe she said she is Scottish. They do tend to overhaul these contestants with a makeover though...she said she'd prefer not to change to much wants to look like a real person :) she said. Her humbleness makes her so beautiful and genuine!

SHE IS SCOTTISH!!!! from West Loathian! And they are powerfully proud of her!

I just think she is amazing - there is so much self presence there, I loved the playful waggle she gives the audience before she begins, and the quip about never being kissed "but that's not an advertisement!" Doesn't matter who was feeling embarassed for her in the audience, this woman feels well loved! Brillant.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Quoting:
this woman feels well loved

says it best! She wishes no ill of those who've teased her and she's always wearing a smile. She seems the perfect example of positive thinking!

And I to wanted to point out the nationality difference. We know someone who's moved to the US from Scotland and he is VERY determined to point out the differences between Irish and Scots :) (but I'm not playing faves---I think that part of the world is gorgeous!)

(Judi)Portland, OR

Laurie good to see your post. I was wondering where you disappeared to!

Portland, OR

Hi Kathy, I meant it as a joke! I can see her in a gardening hat and wellies!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Oops, Nancy!! Yes, a gardener. ^_^

I'm glad the West Loathians are proud of her, but especially that the whole world has adopted her. We are silly creatures. Ready to laugh at you if you don't fit the bill, but beaming with pride if you can show that special things come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. She is a true maverick, that one.

I think seeing the scoweling Simon Cowel beam was what actually put me over the edge. It takes something to do that, methinks.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Hi portland - I've missed being around, just got my plate a little too full right now. I have been doing extreme gardening, walking miles, and blast! that bl&&dy work thing keeps getting in the way. But I do think of all of you when I am out there wheelbarrowing, and come in for a quick look when poss.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

I don't get my scots and irish mixed up. I just said what I thought she looked like.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

My apologies for reading you wrong willowwind2 :)

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

No apologies necessary. Sometimes I don't understand myself. But at my age I'm entitled to be confused. ^_^

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

hehe :)
