This guy walked out while I was photographing birds......

Sugar Land, TX

This guy walked out while I was photographing birds in south Texas this week. Coyotes are difficult to photograph but this one posed for a while. Taken near Alice, TX with a Nikon D300 and a Nikon 500mm ED MF lens.

I have a few that hang around the house, but I seldom see them in daylight. Hear them at night and see their tracks, but occasionally see them.

I have a string of Texas pics from a trailcam I ought to post. Maybe in the morning. Let's just throw in one more prolific Tejas critter. Boys n girls, if you try this at home, use your telephoto, not the macro.

LOL! Definitely the telephoto!

Ewk! Rattle snake? The coyote looks kinda slim .

Actually that 'yote is pretty plump. Most look emaciated. I think the ones around here stay well-fed on Poodles and Tabbies. :) My neighbor across the creek looked out in his back yard one morning to see one munching on his wife's cat.

I've posted this pic before, but this one has a really good coat. Taken out my breakfast room window.

That one looks healthy too.

Hi Guy's, your coyote is a bit like our fox but a bit bigger.
This is our Lace Monitor Goanna in our front yard, it's the biggest one I've ever seen.
I have to keep the chook pen closed after I let them out other wise these buggers get in and I don't want to come face to face with him.

I can do without lizard that big in my yard! What is a chook?

A chicken.

Hi Red, what do you call chicken's. I suppose Chicken's, that would be logical I guess.
A chicken is a young chook here in Aus.

Fantastic pictures people! I love it seeing the coyote... ok, maybe not munching on one of my pets, but would love to get my own picture of one. We have them here as well, but they are so hard to catch - photographically that is. Great job!
