Is that a male Australian Brush Turkey? Neat to see it.

Hi JuneyBug, yes it is the male Australian Brush Turkey. They have become a bit of a pest around here but they are protected so not much we can do about it. I have at least 10 all different ages crossing over my front lawn early of a morning. They roost in the trees of a night and come to ground in the morning.
The male looks after the eggs in the nest, taking off compost if it is too hot or adding more if it is too cold. After they hatch the little ones have to fend for themselves. I guess they do a pretty good job considering how many we have.

Sure is neat to see how different our birds look.
