I have several small containers of water around the room in which I stick random cuttings, leaves, etc. that get broken or trimmed. Tonight, I reached into one to remove a cutting I wanted to discard, and pulled out this! Anyone....any clue what this is?
Underwater Mystery
Nobody?
Jan,
I don't know.It looks like some kind of seedpod.
It looks familiar, LOL ... probably because I do the exact same thing - always sticking bits and pieces of plants in water or the terrarium! I wish I could identify that plant for you but I have no clue. Since it has a root, I'd pot it up and wait a few weeks until it reveals itself! Keep us updated!
I have a couple of things sprouting in the 10gal terrarium that I can't identify. Two are Gessies of some sort but one I'm not sure what it is! Only time will tell.
is it like a tuber? sort of like peony?
I know....a Triffid! ( Guess I am showing my age teehee).
It reminds me of some kind of outdoor plant. If I knew for sure I would plant the bottom and let the leafy part stick up from the soil.Maybe someone on the plant ID forum would know.
I was thinking that it looked more like a house plant of some kind. It looks kinda familiar to me. I'd plant it for sure ... with the weather warming up I bet it wouldn't be long at all before it "showed" it's true identity! I love a good mystery so I hope phoebe keeps us posted with updates and photo's!
The second picture looks like the leaf is thick?? Or am I just crossed eyed! LOL The top sort of looks like one of the cuttings I got of a pitcher plant? Or at least thats what I think they said it was!!!
I see layers, so to me, it looks sort of like an onion or something in the lily family.
Well, since I haven't grown any onions lately...LOL! Given what I have grown recently, I guess it has to be orchid related, but it sure is strange looking...does not look familiar to me. I'll plant it this weekend, though not sure what to plant it in!
Maybe its an Easter Miracle!! LOL
LOL!! Laura...maybe! ^_^
Now you have to plant it!! I can't wait to see what it turns out to be!! Never know, could be a really fun surprise!! Maybe you got a little extra something something somewhere!! Please be sure to keep us updated on it!!
It sure does resemble a lily or something in that family.Maybe we also should Google orchids and see if that is something that happens with them??
