If you save eggs from day one day two and day three and put them in the incubator at the same time will they hatch at the same time or hatch day one day two and day three?
question about incubation
For all intents and purpose they should all hatch at the same time, as they were all incubated at the same time. Some times they do hatch early and late though. Hay
I believe so, if they are kept at a cool room temp until incubation. I have collected eggs for days before and they all hatched the same day. ;)
They don't start developing until the hen sets on them and raises their temp, this allows her to build up a clutch of eggs that will all hatch within 24 hours of each other. If they are kept at a low temp, 50-55 ideally, they will all start to develop at the same time when they are put in the incubator.
These are for a school project,I keep them on my counter in the kitchen so they were about70 during the day and 60 at night
Sounds fun!!! Have a blast. I had mine on the counter also. It was good. We hatched with summer camp kids. What a good experience for the kids. ;)
Thanks, the kids were so excited when I took them in,I also took in a picture with the saddle on one of my hens, they thought that was cute
It's always so much fun when children are involved isn't it? I have twenty-eight grandchildren and I think seven great grandchildren. They are such a blast and they love to come up and ride our quads. They love also to see the chickens. I don't let them in the coop, but I usually go get one of the pullet about 12 weeks old and let them help to hold it. I have eggs that should hatch this week-end and one of my granddaughters is comming up as she wants to see that happen. Haystack.
I keep mine under the bed until it's time to turn them on. I got that tip from an old chicken man that has been incubating half of forever.
I hope at least some hatch, the kids were so excited. I took in a picture of the daddy and the many mama`s.They wanted to know if they could keep them as pets when they hatched out but I said no,they were very fragil and would die if they were not properly taken care of,so the teacher told them that they would be there a day or two so that seemed to satisfy them.I`m just as excited as the kids are I told her I would like to see when they candle them as I have never seen that only in pictures. Its a good thing I don`t have a incubator I would have babies all the time.Going to start on my new coop in a week or so as soon as the ground dries up a liitle. Will take pictures as we progress.
