Like a lot of people on this forum I have been searching for a use for my cat litter boxes. I made a self watering EP out of a couple but the water resevoir is just not up to snuff. I have used them as planters for peppers with an olla and that worked prtty well. This year it is the "topsy turvy" ideas turn for experimentation :) Has anybody grown a tomato using a topsy turvy and if so how well did it work? I think this would be a good conversion for a cat litter container.

TMaple: Someone mentioned that to me once also. I had bought a bloommaster, a huge plastic type flower pot thingy that has 30 huge holes in the side and about 5 little holes in the very bottom, you fill it with the lightest potting mix you can find and then insert 30 plants into the holes and hang it up and water it like a topsy turvy. Looked great on the website ad so decided to take a 5 gallon bucket and make on using the bloommaster as a model, I drilled 5 little holes in the bottom, and 20 holes in the sides for inserting 20 plants and then using the pail handle as part of the thing I secured it to and adding a chain, hung it up, neither are doing well I'm afraid. I have 2 topsy turvy's and 4 revolutionay planters (Gardner's Supply version of the topsy only with it's own water reservoir), I have toms planted in them and am waiting myself to see how they do. A friend of mine told me they have the topsy's on sale at Walgreen's for about $5; of course I paid more than that as I bought them last year. Here is a bloommaster with cukes in it.

Thanks for the input. I think I will experiment with it a little.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with those 4 armed hanging stands were expensive and I'd like to put them to use. LOL
