Resurrection Plant/Rose of Jericho

If you have this plant (Resurrection Plant/Rose of Jericho), I will trade or do postage.
Thanks.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

This is just the coolest plant! I keep 2 of these in my African Violet terrarium - when they look 'brown/dead', I know it's time to water the A.V.'s.

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

Ok so it sounds cool and I looked it up on plant files, but it doesn't say how to care for one, Do you plant it in dirt? or just let it sit in water? or ?
How big do they get?
Are they winter hardy if I leave it outdoors, and do they like sun or shade?

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

It will develop a root system if planted in shallow, loose soil. I lay mine on top of the soil to moniter the humidity/moisture in my terrarium. They grow wild in the woods here in my area, in shade.

This site goes into great detail about this plant:

thank you!
It looks like shade and that it is not hardy outside, so I would have to bring it indoors during the winter.
I shall have to find me one of these somewhere lol

I have heard of those all my life and always thought they were not real. Nice to know they are... hey cue.. maybe you should go to that shop and buy a bunch.. maybe they will give you a good price if you got a lot of them...

Yes.
Thanks.

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

I got one as a gift - It was purchased from an ad in a magazine... But it is only one half of the plant! It is supposed to be splayed out in a round shape, but I have a semi circle. I wonder why they didn't send me a whole plant????
It is cute, but the green is already gone, after only 2 months. I can't seem to get any positive growth, root or leaf. I don't suspect it will live a long life with me :(

Do they really grow? I mean.. get bigger with roots and everything? I may have you get me one.. I always though they were something that was just spray painted green that soaked up water... like a dried out spongey something.. a gimic.. it is a REAL plant!?

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

these plants dont really grow as a houseplant. in nature, they spend most of their time, rolling around the desert in a tight ball all dry and brittle until the rains, when they unfurl, turn green and then release their spores. when the rain is over, they dry back up and continue their tumbling adventure.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

sounds like they belong out here with me... in the desert.... would be right at home!

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7b)

I want one, but think I'll look the next time I go to Fl.....

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

I took some photos so you can see what you get from the magazine ad...
It came with a clear plastic dish & some bark chips.

As you can see, it is cut in half! The ad shows a full round plant... But all I got was half :(
It is just drying out - The ends are beginning to curl upwards.

Julie,sorry about your plant.
They should replace this, it's worth a try.

Kelly ( cue_chik) please dmail me.

Guilford, CT(Zone 7a)

I was kind of hoping it would eventually regrow the other half... Perhaps that is a little too optimistic?
It is still cute :)
