I just received nice big hoya from greenhouse in CA

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

I received nice big healthy hoya plants from a greenhouse in California I got :coronaria, longifolia shepherdii, macrophylla, keysii, pink silver.shipping charges are reasonable and I was very happy with the quality and size of the plants for the price. The owner is the one who answers the phone she is very nice. They mostly sell other plants and are wholesalers to other nurserys. I will order from them again. leah

What's the name of the greenhouse? I thought I knew of just about every seller in the US!

(Zone 1)

Yes ... inquiring minds want to know!

Also, don't forget to leave feedback for the vendor in Garden Watchdog: http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/

Leah...great find!!! What is longifolia shephardii? BTW...your keysii is probably H. australis...sometimes it is H. coronaria. Not intending to rain on your parade....but so many nurseries just slap any name on a hoya. There is H. longifolia and there is H. shephardii....also a cross called cv. minibelle and they are often mislabeled as one or the other.....

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Carol, Marliynn(owner of said gh) calls it longifolia shephardii I think it is H. shephardii. And both the coronaria and keysii do look like austraqlis I will take a pix of all of them and post as soon as I can. they have a 50.00 min to order and they only have a small selection of hoya list as follows:coronaria, kerryii, Krinkle 8, longifolia shepherdii, macrophylla, keysii, obovata, pink princess (variegated),pink silver. they have a website but only do mail order you have to pay by check they ship very fast. of course if you want nice plants and a big variety you should order from the vendor in HI. Why can't we mention the vendor in HI? Can I mention the name of this vendor?

Is this a joke?

Wondering the same thing....

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Is what a joke and why would you ask that?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

By all means, you can mention the vendors name, Leah...I think everyone would like to know it. Does she have photos of the hoyas she has for sale in her catalogue?

Carol

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

unfortunatly she does not have pix in her catalogue you have to email her to get her list. And maybe she could email pix if one asked. I didn't ask I just ordered ones that I don't already have, wich some of hers apparently may be mislabled. For the price I paid I guess I didn't much care if they were mislabled or not. I do prefer to order from people who have a reputation of correctly labeling plants. it's called marilynns garden. I have read posts and people wouldn't mention vendors names is that because they are DG members?

They are all very pretty.

I think your older one from Hawai'i looks like a kentiana.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Thank you It does look like kentiana but, it's not kentiana it has flat elepticle leaves as apposed to boat shaped ones.

(Zone 1)

If it's not H. kentiana could it possibly be the one called shepherdell? I found a photo of shepherdell while googling and have been wondering about it. The e-bay info says it's a cross between carnosa and shepherdii: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380069334728#ebayphotohosting

I'm pretty sure it's not shepherdll hopefully Carol will chime in I'm sure she will know what it is.

Plantladylin thanks for attaching a photo, that is not it either. The leaves are really pretty flat. I will get a better pix

OK...and it is a wild guess but that flat leafed mystery could be H. lacunosa 'Poonsak'. If not, I would not have the wildest clue until it blooms. If it IS, it is the most beautifully grown example I have ever seen!!!! But then, Leah, you do grow beautiful plants!!

(Zone 1)

I googled Hoya lacunosa Poonsak and found a couple of pic's for comparison, none near as gorgeous as babysalem5's plant!

I'm really pretty sure it is not a poonsak thanks plantladylin for attaching links. I got it from Carol about 2 yrs ago. I will have to go back and see if I can find all my orders to her and see if I can use a process of elimination to figuer it out. This is a very small list of some ot the plants I ordered from Carol, these are the ones that of the top of my head I don't know what they look like. I don't have time to search right now. I will later to see If I can come up with something
H. revoluta IML 1455, Hoya parviflora, Hoya pusilla IML 78 (F484), Hoya naumanii IML 198, Hoya cominsii IML 294, h. dimorpha , H. camphorifolia or H. rigida IML 1395

Carol said in her above post that it might be poonsak. Check out these pic's at her website, scroll down, it's the next to last picture:

thanks I looked at Carols photo looks similar it's hard to tell, mine does not have "dimples" and in the other photos of the poonsak it looks like they have dimples

(Zone 1)

When you get blooms you should be able to get a correct ID on that great looking plant! I am really curious as to which hoya it is ... love the growth habit and the leaf shape! Keep us posted!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Don't forget....leaves can do all kinds of different things in different environments....

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

All I know is that I got it from Carol 2 yrs ago. Hasn't bloomed yet, but it is growing like crazy. It has been babied It's always been in my bathroom or bedroom when lots of the other hoya have been in the plantroom. And I avoided the plantroom for atleast 7 mos, when I was pregnant the smell of it made me sick.
