Hi, I am in need of water plants. I really donot have anything to trade due to the fact I was in a bad car accident and lost 95 percent of my plants due to being laid up in bed for over 2 months, then winter hit and everything that survived neglect died from freezes. So I can send postage and/or pay for plants. Any water plants would be helpful.
Thanks!!!

Birdie
Really, oh thank you,, what would you like for them? Stamps? / money?
Are pond cannas different from regular cannas?
I have some cannas,, never thought of putting them in pond?
Want some white water lilies?
Hi Kris Im sorry to hear you were injured and hope you are completely recovered ! I can truly relate .My husband had an atrial fib and a massive stroke that left him blind with severe amnesia and short term memory loss 4/27/07. he was in the hospital for over 4 months and the people caring for my gardens left the water on overnight and killed all of my koi :( then the back pond leaked and went dry and I lost all of my plants ... anyway I have 2 types of hardies and just now have unearthed a few tiny tropical lilies and am hoping that there is at least 1 of my favorites among them!
My husband was doing much better then the Drs predicted through still quite a battle and now it looks like he will need another brain surgery as the VP shunt he had inplanted in his brain in 1986 for hydrocephlyus is malfunctioning after a car struck the van he was going to blind training school in :( We should know within the next few days if he will have to have a new VP shunt installed .
anyway ,we are blessed that he has done so well and I am grateful that we have been able to be together for the last 2 years and our youngest is now 8.5 and the light of his Dads life :)
I have a small arc en ciel hardy and a MEXICANA HARDY It took over my pond here in central Florida.I believe I posted pics of the arc en ciel in daves photo database a few years ago. I would be happy to send you he water lilies as well as a pink asiatic lotus start if you like and a few water lettuce perhaps ? All I ask is that you pay postage .If you are interested drop me a line back channel . I would like to mail this Saturday or Monday .
Teresa
Yes pond canna's are different they have a root systems that is water tolerant, I do not think regualar canna's will survive but may be wrong, I did but these as Water canna's. Someone chime in if I am off base here.
Bill
Humm all my cannas are in a ditch full of water.. I will try what I have, If it does not work I will d-mail you Bill, ok?
Em.....I can bring you an asst. of pond plants when I go to Jeri's in May. Just d-mail me later and I'll let you know what I have to share, including mosquito fish!
Hi did you ever receive the yellow iris's I sent you for your pond? Birdie
Birdie, I did not get anything from you,, sorry When did you send them?
Kris
Hi Birdie, Elf. Hope you dont mind Elf. You both seem to know about ponds. I am just adding one to the landscape here and know nothing. Birdie anything that you sent me can it grow in the pond? Do I just put things in the pots and place them in the pond ? Help!!
Which plants work in the pond do you know?
Robin
No problem Robin, I am learning what works and what doesn't work. I had plants last year and every single one died. I really did not have anything special, jsut a water lilie that never bloomed, so water lettece, and a couple of corkscrews grass type plants,, But after the accident everything died from neglect.
I donot mind if you jump in at all, I could stand to learn more that is for sure...

Did you get enough offers? I realized.. I have some of these but they are tiny starts .. they root really easily and are really marginals.. mine are growing in these pots in about 5 inches of water.. these started last year as little 3 inch plants! I have little starts growing off the tops of some of them.. I have pulled some off and stuck them in the pot and they root within a couple days.. the only problem I am having with keeping them rooted is the birds keep pulling them up!
I would love to have some. What do I need to send you for them?
Thanks
Kris
Just postage.. I can probably send in a bubble mailer.. I have those already.. I buy them by the box at sams.. can't see mailing them both ways.. that is a waste of stamps! I will d-mail you.
I'm in transit from Cocoa Beach FL to Cicero NY. I have a large pond and always have water lilies to share. Please contact me mid May if you are still looking for plants for postage. I have Hosta, water iris, and lilies. All can go in pots in the water. I also have some plants that are good for fish spawning. I think it's cabomba.

Thunder storms last night Kris. THey shook this 16 story building I am in. Power out trees blowing sideways!!More of the same tonight. Im going to see how close to the beach I can get in the car that is so I can take pictures. There are somenice blooms down here.....Still only crocus and jonquils at home.
ooooh, beach pictures.. as in big waves? If you get some.. I want to seeeee! AND push those thunder storms back this way! I am having to tear up some beds and amend the soil because we have not had any real rain in over a year and the plants are languishing. They have managed in the naturally sandy soil with my watering and just local amendment when adding a plant here and there until now but I have to add more and lots of polymer crystals to hold more moisture.
Ok Ill fan the rain your way!! Ill post pictures If I can get close enough!!
LhasaLover
If arejay59 fans some rain your way - please share!! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!!! I am dreading this summer!! My veggie garden is already complaining about the heat!
Kris,
Do you want some water grass? I will have to look up the name. I was sent some in a trade and I can share some with you!! Let me know.
Dana
Do you all use the crystals? They hold water for a long time. I wish they made them so they would heat up lack of water never happens here just overabundence of snow.
