To let everyone know the progress of my garden thus far, I have 38 tomato plants, 14 different varieties going on. I have planted them mostly in coconut coir; but, some have Jungle Grow in them also. I just started moving them out of the greenhouse, no frass so far, although I did spot a wasp flying around; probably looking for those cursed horned tomato worms also. I am not going to spray just yet. I have two toms in my HE 5 gallon buckets that are huge already and their stems are like the size of thumbs, I have 4 five gallon buckets with toms in them. I made two grow bags from the carry bags of the coconut coir, which gives me a total of 9 grow bags with toms in them, and I have 5 lay flat bags with 3 toms each in them. I am going to be transplanting some toms up into the topsy's and revolutionary planters this evening. I have two tomatoes planted up into the two square footers and they are doing well. My favorites thus far, seem to be the 5 gallon HE buckets and the 5 gallon grow bags, although, the 5 gallon grow bags are much easier to lift and move so they are becoming my favorite pretty fast now. The lay flat bags takes 2 people to move so they are still in the greenhouse and will come out this evening, hopefully, with the table they are going on.

With the last freeze, my watermelon and ambrosia melons didn't make it I don't believe, and my okra is looking really sickly. But..... my one artichoke is doing fine, my strawberries are bearing fruit, the birds left me two thus far, and my candy apple onions and carrots are coming along. My lettuce is coming along in the two lay flat bags and my cabbages are doing well, except one has a big hole bitten right out of the middle of a leaf, what is it ya think? My beans are doing fairly well in the hanging grow bags; but my bloommaster and homemade bloommaster full of cukes aren't doing too well.

Well, that's the progress report, soon as my daughter empties out her pics from her trip to Disney I will get busy posting pics of the progress of my garden. Oh, I used some coconut coir with some of Brecks bulb food to plant my daffodils in and they are coming up beautiful already.

I did fall into the temptation of ordering tomato trees advertised by gardener's choice along with rainbow pepper plants. The 5 pepper plants are doing fine and one of the tomato trees looks pretty healthy the other one doesn't. I have two special pots for them already. I'm babying the 3 fairy tale eggplants I got from Burpees and now, it's time will tell right?

Pics later on.

Jaywhacker: I got two of the revolutionary planters filled tonight, one with sun gold tomato plant, one with tangerine tomato plant. I will do 2 more tomorrow night with my daughter's help and then the two topsy turvy's the following night. Then I will be able to survey what I have left in the way of mix, as I have one huge bag of Jungle Grow left, and still have some of the Gardener's Supply self watering container mix (it's like Jungle Grow but with the dolomite lime already added) and 1 block of coconut coir left. I still got corn to plant in HEBs and will probably plant some more cukes in HEBs this time and more okra seedlings to start as I don't like the way mine are looking right now. They are in the HEBs already and in Jungle Grow, not doing very well. Since they are so deep I may do a layer thing with them putting the coir in the middle of the HEB this time and see what happens. My daughter will empty the camera tonight and I will take pics tomorrow morning for posting.

Jaywhacker: Got all the revolutionary planters up with toms in them today, (4) and the topsy turvy's (2), I also did some switches. Put some chocolate cherry tomatoes in them that were growing in the 5 gallon bag and slapped in my 4th of July and the health kick tomato in their place in the 5 gallon grow bags. Those revolutionay planters and topsy turvys are going to need lots of watering, constantly. One good thing, since it's chocolate cherry tomatoes in the hanging ones no one will be able to tell if they have BER right? LOL

I also readied two EB's, man the EB people's potting mix is great, it was so light, so was their dolomite and their fertilizer. I put it in one EB, my eggplants are going in that one, and then I mixed Jungle Grow and Coconut Coir in the other one, one eggplant and one tomato (Big Mama kind) will go in their. Next, the 5 peppers. I also brought back out the coconut coir seed starting kit, as I had some more baskets, from the plants that didn't quite make it through the freeze we had, and planted the starting kit full of okra seeds. Tomorrow I hope to get my corn done and then next week will start some more watermelon and ambrosia melons.

Question: Now that it is getting hot, how often do I water and how often do I fertilize?
