Happy B-Day dear Dr. Doolittle. I hope you have a luvly day!
Happy Birthday dear Claire!
Happy birthday, Moxon!
All the pictures are lovely. Fran - your daughter is very talented!
I love the Easter bonnet - do you think my goats would like one? Or the sheep?
As for presents, my parents (in Canada) sent me the money for a drum carder for my fleece.
Here it is. It aligns all the fibers in the same direction so that it can be blended and made ready for spinning. I know, a bit of a non-conventional item. :-) For a non-conventional person!
Oh, and the most exciting bit of all! I got myself a little present too. :-)
A hardy PETHUD tree! I didn't even know they existed for my zone!!

Too cool... I don't know what that contraption is.. but it looks like fun!
Congrats on your Pethud tree and contraption, Claire --looks wonderful. Much better than endless hand carding...
I SOOOOOO have to have a hardy pethud tree now! Please let me know how it does on Mount Iowa.
Excellente about the pethod size as I have the perfect spot for it. Um Claire do you have purpley blue goats or lamas or sheeps that I don't know how about?
Oops, cat's out of the bag now. They fell into a vat of grape juice I just happened to have handy....
Claire congrat on the thingy and the pecan tree-just make sure that you get a second one-need to for cross pollination.
:O you need two pethud trees?!?! Crappola I don't have room for 2 :( Any chance they will cross pollinate with an apple, apricot, cherry or saskatoon? Probably too kinky even for a pethud tree.
No, they will produce some nuts but more if you have two. They take a long time to get big.
I can wait for bigness ^_^ Thanks dear wren.
Happy Birthday Claire! Fellow Aries. Hope you had a great day!
wish I could give you some of the pecan trees from down here. we have them growing in every hedge row from the squirrels! Love them fresh! MMMMM! Happy Bird day.
I ordered two but with my luck one of them will kick the bucket. I hope they will do OK here. I will wrap the trunk to protect from little beasties, and put them with my fruit trees in the non-valley-ish area that does not frost as much.
Thanks Karbear - good to hear from a fellow Aries - we are a stubborn bunch, aren't we?!
Oh Innbetween, your pethud trees would be lovely, but would surely die here, and that would be tragic. I will have to retire to a more southern location someday, with mature pethud trees.
I also ordered Arctic kiwi plants for my b-day...
I have had great luck with their trees --should do well for you.
Is that going to felt or yarn? (hanker hanker)
Arctic kiwi are kewl!
Thanks Beclu! Very pretty flower too!
Grownut - probably felt - it's not the best wool really. It was just for testing the carder.
Here is some of my current spinning - it's still a single and will need to be plied with something, but I love the colo(u)r! It's a really nice feeling wool too. Spins up very easily.
Will be very prettiful for mittens ^_^ Are you going to sell extra wool you have? (hint, hint) Note to self: learn how to knit.
Dahlia, I will definitely be selling yarn later in the year, and probably felt as well.
Crochet is easier than knitting. I am learning both myself, and I find crochet waaaay easier.
I can crochet ^_^ but knitted mittens wouldn't be as holey I spec.
Wow frans the craftmanship is beautiful! and you have a helper too! I have no idea what it does though (blush).
That is so interesting! I love that stuff. What would you use that batt for? What is felting? Is that just like the cloth? I'm so ignorant to this stuff.. but it's soooo interesting!
OMG what are they doing to that cat????????
LOL..she kept getting in the way.. my sil is just holding her to save her life... lmbo
Making a Cat in the Hat I suspect ZZs.
LOL
(OT) ps ZZs I thought of you today. The honey bees were buzzing me today asking 'Dahlia where are the Flowerzzzzzzzz?" They are very buZZful in the spring.
