Anthurium eggersii?

Gainesville, FL

I have a very nice specimen of an anthurium that was labeled A. eggersii. This plant was seed grown by a So FL gardener who collected seeds from a plant at a botanical garden where she volunteers. That is what the plant was labeled there.

In researching the name, I have found that aroid.org has disqualified 'eggersii' as a valid species name.

So, what IS the proper name for my plant? Does anyone know? I can take a photo if needed to help ID

This is the entry I found in the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew world checklist of selected plant families:

Anthurium eggersii Engl., Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 25: 405 (1898).
This name is accepted.

Hi Goth,
I went back and looked at the aroid.com write up - It seems to me they have excluded the species from their KEY for some reason, not claimed that the SPECIES is invalid. Indeed their website says ...Anthurium eggersii Englcr. This species is a distinct species known only from Pacific Coastal Ecuador. Croat and Baker (1979) in the treatment of Anthurium for Costa Rica considered the species a synonym of A. Paludosum, but further investigations show it to lack the entire cataphylls so characteristic of A. Paludosum....

If it was me, I'd stick with the name you have!

Ciao, KK.

I wasn't certain what to make of that little blurb. I probably misinterpreted it! Thanks!
