Short, fat, much, much bigger than the Ruby-crowned Kinglet that seemed to fascinate it.

Well, it's hard to get a sense of scale from the photo, but going on the "much bigger" comment, a thrush, perhaps a migrating Swainson's...
Maybe. I would guess about 6" though, so maybe he's too small? The big leaves are about an inch and half. (Yes, I measured! Didn't help that much in figuring out size b/c it was hard to tell which leaves were closest to him.) His tail is pretty short, so maybe he's lost some tail feathers. I keep saying he, but he's so fat that he's probably a she?
Definitely a thrush; from the fairly prominent eye ring, I'd suspect probably Hermit Thrush, though that's not definite.

Shoot, I wish I'd gotten more pics. I was too obsessed with the kinglet. I always let those tiny, fast birds get the better of me!
