Problem Ming

Burton, OH

I am having a heck of a time with a Aralia Ming. I have it indoors, in a great room, loads of light. I have kept it moist, I have let it dry. I have repotted it. I have done everything I can think of. It wants to turn yellow and drop leaves. It is growing new ones but not at the rate it's dropping old ones. I have fed it and I have sprayed it. Could someone please brainstorm this with me? I would really appreciate it... bama

I've found mine is a little fussy about watering. If I let it dry out too much in between waterings, it'll have some leaves turn yellow and drop. If I water it a little too frequently, it'll have some leaves turn yellow and drop. (Reminds me of how my hibiscus behave) There's a happy medium in there somewhere, and I seem to have arrived at the ideal point on my current plant since it hasn't had trouble in a while, but I found it to be a matter of trial and error. It does like a decent amount of moisture, but even plants that like water can be overwatered so it wouldn't hurt to do the finger test on it for a while until you get the correct watering frequency down (stick your finger down a few inches into the soil and see how it feels--if it's still really wet then hold off, but if it's starting to dry out then give it a drink). I think the trick with these is consistency--keep them always slightly damp vs alternating between really dry and drowning them in water.

Thanks for the thougts on the ming. I will try this for while. IF it doesn't work I think I will try another container. This one is deep and the water may not be going where it needs it. Will post if I get success with anything.
