This seems to be some agricultural agency. Does anyone know what they do? I'm perplexed on this one.

That's what I got too. I apparently will be receiving a package from them tomorrow. Can't figure it out. I don't remember ordering anything. Such a mystery.

2Busy be veeeeeerry careful if you hear (feed me) coming from package...LOL

Dade City, FL(Zone 9a)

It's actually scary. I never have liked surprise packages from unknown sources. Eeek

Dade City, FL(Zone 9a)

Ack!!!! I just looked on the link that dark gave me. The name on my package (according to FedEx) is the same name as the guy in charge of 'germplasm distribution'. I should NEVER surf the internet when I'm tired. What on earth could I have signed up for. Ohhhhhh my. LOL

I don't even know what 'germplasm' is, but it doesn't sound fun. ;0

A germplasm is a collection of genetic resources for an organism. For plants, the germplasm may be stored as a seed collection or, for trees, in a nursery.

It's due tomorrow before 4. Overnight no less. I guess I better get my things in order, just in case. I'm being hunted down by a plant. Who would have thunk? Tubby, if I'm not back after 4, call the gardener police.

They're stobs!!!!!!!!!!!

No kidding. Now I remember. I was searching one night a while ago and decided I wanted to find out about blueberries. I wandered onto this site and ordered these since they were free.

They came today and I surely don't know what to do with them. I'll have to do more surfing because they are just unrooted cuttings. They just look like sticks about 8 inches long. Still green. This explains the overnight delivery. There are a couple that appear to be rootballs. 6 different blueberry bushes. Several cuttings per type.

We shall see. This will be interesting.

2busy, what site were you on? I wonder if they sent you some stock that they need help in continuing the strain/variety.

It's possible. They have a 50/50 chance with me though. I'm going to give the ol' college try, but I've never grown blueberries, and in fact, I am somewhat still a newbie on all of this really.

My guess is this is where the cuttings came from. The Agricultural Research Service, as division of the UDSA. Cuttings are made available for research projects, typically.
Actually, I am impressed that you found your way to this site. Are they requesting feedback from your project?

Thanks, cyndiehook. Yep, I eventually found where their germplasm (root stock, seeds, cuttings, etc) are available for research (free!). However there is a limited supply and they request info regarding your intentions, etc. I would enjoy doing some more research but right now I'm tapped out with other projects. Thanks for posting that link.

I actually ordered the blueberry cuttings last fall but they don't cut and ship till them come out of dormancy. I got about 30 cuttings of 5 southern varieties. I have gotten strawberries and various seeds from them in the past year also. So far, they have not requested any feedback.
