Two rambling vlogs on the progress so far:

Hubby made me a tall table and two containers (4x6) about waist height to accommodate my needs....though we've also got tons of pots on the ground. I still have peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, flowers, herbs and strawberries coming past what is seen on the vlogs.
Our container garden beginnings...
Ha! I finally watched these vlogs, and I did enjoy them. It was fun to listen to the heartfelt bantering going on between you and your family (with your hubby being a manly-man and all). Very very cute...
Looks like you're going gangbusters with this project. We too are reclaiming some space for raised beds for small gardens. Also...instead of planting allllllllllll my deck pots with flowers this year...they are going to be veggies...lol
Anyhow... it was fun to see the progress, and cute to see the family project in progress. Good job!
Very cute, would your hubby like to make a road trip to NY and build some stuff for me LOL Its great to see the progress on video, Very nice family you have. Thanks for sharing them with us
Christine
Thank you!
We're renting and don't want to rip up the yard/garden and sprinkler system since it's not ours. So after 3 years we finally took this side dog run area that was previously useless. It's perfectly full sun and ready to go. My hubs went gangbusters building and I bought WAY too many seeds. I maintain that it's a great science experiment, but I do hope to have a great crop of veggies all year too.
This is the first year I will also be putting out tons of pots of flowers. Usually I do flowers in the ground or just leave it and rely on my green plants, but I just want to get some beautiful blooms in pots this year. Perhaps it's nervous energy while i wait for the veggies to come...
Christine,
I am from NY and we were there until 3 years ago when we moved to hubs' home town.
After 9 years together I was shocked to find out he's so talented. He basically builds without instructions/templates and did a fine job. I have to say I am shocked because he usually does such a terrible job fixing things in the house.
Ssshhh, don't tell him I told you that :)
Thanks again,
Gina
Gina, or should I say X-new Yorka. Dont you miss all the snow & cold, I bet you dont living out there in sunny Napa. I'm a renter also and my landlord doesnt care what I do, he says "Whatever you do is a improvement" so he has given me free reign to do whatever. I do alot in containers and have done very well. Good Luck I cant wait to see you post more pics of your hubbies handy work.
Christine
Hey, jasminesmom, I do NOT miss the snow and cold and humidity, for sure!! I never liked NY weather.
The landlord saw the plant/flower gardens after the first year and was happy with them, but there's no way to put in a veggie garden without ripping up lawn and sprinkler system, so containers it is!!
I enjoyed these vlogs too.
I hope you do another one later in the season and let us know how it's all going. My veg garden is mostly in containers too -- so far, so good, but it's early in the season too!

Just learning about container gardening for things such as bulbs & tubers & some perreneals
