Bloomsdale Spinach won't grow

Lake Elsinore, CA

I've had some of this spinach in pots since Feb. 3. I thought spinach liked cooler weather.
None of it will do anything. I've only got 4 leaves on the plants and they just sit there.

Does anyone know what I can do with this spinach to make it grow. It's in pots with coconut coir, steer manure and potting mix. I've given it miracle grow and even threw some triple 16 granular fert. on it and still nothing happening. I'm ready to yank it and put something else in there.

I don't have much space and can't afford to have anything around that is not growing.

I tried to grow spinach and other greens in an unheated greenhouse this winter, in flats. It germinated but never did grow. We think there were too many salts in the medium. With all that fert on yours, perhaps that's it. You can try watering heavily to completely flush the soil, maybe several times.
good luck,
toni

I didn't dose it with fertilizer until it was about 45 days old. I'm thinking it likes warmer weather. It's got 2 more weeks to grow and after that, out it goes. Even so, I wonder what it will taste like being so old if it does grow.

Spinach is not the fastest growing plant in the world and like most plants goes slow in cool short daylight conditions. Renegade, direct seeded first of February and coming along nicely.

Thanks, Farmerdill. Looks like mine is coming along just fine then. Thanks for that picture, that was very helpful.
