We are having very cold weather, I've got a little space heater in the little GH, so we are okay for now. What I'm wondering is, could a chiminea be used in the GH? I have one that will keep a low fire for hours, and radiates heat from the coals. Then only when it cooled off would the electric heater come on, saving $. Anyone with experience with one?
chiminea in greenhouse?
How would you vent it?
That's exactly the kind of questions I need, thanks. I hadn't thought of it needing a vent.
The fire will emit CO, which you'll need to replace with fresh air.
It's not really that cold. We're only going down to 29 tonight. I'd suggest getting a bigger heater, or not trying to keep the greenhouse heated during the winter, if heating $ could pose a problem when temps are barely at the freezing point. Keeping a GH warm during a StL winter most likely won't be cheap, no matter what method you choose. Just food for thought. =)
Thanks Eggs, we do want to use the GH during the winter, I have some weird health problems and I have to get out in the light/sun/humidity during the winter. I'm just looking at all the options.
