Does this look right ?

Jacksonville, NC(Zone 8b)

I brought my "Hardy Hi biscus to the garage for the winter. It died back and went dormant. Now its coming back for me. At some point do I remove these sticks from the old plant or leave them ? I never had one before through a winter.Any advise is already appreciated.

Hi Lynda,

I cut them off. They are dead and will not come back. The bush will look alot better as well.

Take Care,

Also, they're hardy to something like zone 5 so you could plant it in the ground and leave it there year-round if you want, in your zone there's no need to bring it in for the winter.

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

we had a few freezes here and my neighbors on all sides lost their hibiscus. Now they are all from up north and were sure they were dead. I being a native Floridian explained that they WILL come back (some of those hibiscus were well over 8 ft tall and 6 ft wide). They looked at me with a skeptical eye, and a few days ago, one of my neighbors was ready to rip it out of the ground, until I pointed out the ever so teeny green bud. Now, a week later, it has a tremendous amount of new leaves. I bet thry are glad they didnt rip it out...LOL.

I keep all my "hardy hibs" outside, I have two in the ground and two in very large pots... I always wait until the new growth starts to come up then i cut back all the dead 'stems' - They do great around here - more blooms every year!
