I am on the 3rd floor of apartments this year and everytime I try to put plants out the winds kick up and try to destroy them. Any idea when these winds will die down enough to put them back out?
Winds in Dallas
In July when you would give anything for a breeze.
LOL I know thats right, was hoping for something a little sooner though lol.
As long as we have these fronts blowing through with the winds converging over us, we're going to have the high winds.
Paul's aunt lives on the 6th floor of a Turtle Creek high-rise, but her balcony faces east, so she doesn't have a lot of trouble with the wind.
Ours faces west. Lost all the leaves on my baby Mango tree from them. I guess I will just have to keep a close eye on the wind forecast. Thanks all :)
Mango tree Mistrose? Are you planning on growing it here? its already Mango harvest time at home. (Miami) it takes me way back to my fathers place, when we just went out back and pulled them off the trees.
omg ... you are in Dallas! Me too! :)
Yea was planning to grow one as a houseplant till we get a house next year. Started it from a seed out of a grocery store fruit. Rather interesting.
How did you get it started? We use to stick toothpicks on the side and hang it in a jar of water ... or was that a Avacado seed? Lol its been fifty years since I was a child and I spent 30 of them here.
Thats an Avocado but I would have probably tried the same thing with this if I hadnt read up on it. When you cut up a Mango there is a "furry" pit I clean it with a brush and then let it dry for a few days. Then you carefully pry the pit open and there will be a huge Lima bean looking seed in it. This is what you plant (white eye up). Grows pretty easy. :)
Hmmm I dont remember ... maybe you are right. When I was a kid there was no reason to plant a mango seed, trees were everywhere ... its a shame ... whats going on there now.
Well the winds seem to have died down, hoping they stay that way lol. And believe it or not my stick of a Mango tree is growing new leaves.
