Hummers and Snapdragons

Broxton, GA(Zone 8b)

I saw a hummer today at my snapdragons, I did not know that they were a hummer attractant. Is this a very popular plant for hummers or was this a fluke?

Im new to hummer/BF gardening, but I too noticed that the little hummer I have in the back has stopped at many flowers that weren't necessarily on any 'hummer attraction' list. I'm thinking the 'lists' that I keep seeing on gardening sites are just the tried and true plants, known plants they like but they will sip from other nectar plants as well if in the area. :)

I think that they are. I have seen many hummers at my salvias, the snapdragons and at my roses! They do seem to favor red, orange and yellow plants in my yard.

The snapdragons were yellow and pink that he was feeding from. I have zinnias that will be blooming soon, maybe I will have Hummers & Butterflies at the same time.

Yes, they like snapdragons. I think they have favorites, but I've seen them at abelias, teucrium, agapanthus. They seem to make do with whatever is blooming at the time as long as it is a tubular flower. I try to utilize native plants and avoid feeders. There are some natives they go crazy for.

I had pink cosmos and pink zinnias planted the last few years and they reseed. The hummers and butterflies flock to them.

Zinnias are fabulous. They bloom here until November and the seeds are easy to gather and cultivate.
