Egg Oddity

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

My girls are so happy it is spring they can't hardley contain themselves. One of my ameracaunas laid an egg.. get this.. inside another egg.. I am assuming the other egg got broken.. anyway, I found the eggs stashe in the corner in inside the goathouse.

Heres a different angle.. it is on there really tight.. I am thinking it is a trash egg, I would assume there is a lot of bacteria on the brown egg shell and the green egg is porous, and I don't know how long it was there, could be up to a week.

OK, to clarify.. I do not believe the brown egg came out of my girl.. lol, I do think she sat on the brown egg breaking it and pushing her egg into the brown egg.. still a great oddity.

WOW!! Thanks for sharing, those pic's are incredible. I have never seen or heard of anything like that.
The longer I hang around chicken heads the more incredible the experiences become. I'd save that egg if for no other reason than a conversation piece. Thanks again Frans for sharing those pic's. Haystack

They never cease to amaze us! What in the world????

I have to believe it.. My blue egger will not lay until another one does.. she will climb in with them, or protest loudly till someone comes and lays first! Too funny.. :)
