growing pittosporum?

Woodstock, GA

Is anyone in the atlanta area growing pittosporum successfully?

Yes. So are many people here. No problem but a little leaf burn at my place due to the direction they are planted in. I love them!

I have Pittosporum tobira 'Variegata' . Mine would swallow the sunroom if I let them! I had no idea how big they got when I planted them. I was a new home owner and just wanted a variagated shrub. Get the dwarf kind unless you want a very large shrub or one that needs heavy pruning each year. But mine is very hardy and has been bug free for a decade.

I have a variegated one as well and, "ditto" on the size.........mine is now over 6' and the sweetly scented, tiny blossoms appear every year.

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

I have a variegated one also. It is about 5 ft. tall and wide.

What exposures sun-wise are your Var. Pittosporums planted? I've always wanted one but feared it wouldn't make it here.

Mine is planted in a situation where it is not in full sun, guess you could say dappled shade.

Mine is in full sun. Doesn't seem to bother it. But the back of it had a wild shrub grow up by it. I keep cutting the unknown down, but the pittosporum is still misshapen. Darn.

Awesome, Thank you

Good to know; I'll put it back on my list.

Great, I'm going to use it as a privacy hedge in the back yard in mostly sun.
Thanks
