Frost coming Tuesday morning

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I missed it the last time but bet we get frost/freeze on Tuesday morning. Lots of the buds and blooms will get hit. The new growth of tenders in ground and others will likely be lost.
To top this off, when checking on my flats of new rooted plants for the MG plant sale and uncoming RU had been dug up. Turned over and soil and plant scattered about. I had feed with fish emulsion and guess that smell attracted what ever it was. Bet I trap that bad boy tonight.

Oh the fun of gardening !

gee David what great news...NOT!!!....lol...Ive still got my seedlings in my mini greenhouses.. I havent planted to many yet cause I was afraid this would happen. I didnt want to lose my basil and zinnas..lol.l I counted thepots of basil today and Ive got about 75 of those little darlings just waiting for warmer weather to so they can go to their new homes....and still 3 more cell packs more to thin and transplant. Ive been covering my tomatoes and peppers and will do that till its above 45 at night.. If its going to get as cold as you say I'll rig a couple of clamp lights under the sheets to help with heat and Ill bring my elephant ear pots into the studio.. the rest will have to take their chances under cardboard boxes and glass cloches over them... you might think its rough gardening here in TX but try living in Michigan and doing this...lol

Oh DD........I'm so very sorry about your seedlings. Doggone crazy weather too........I am very worried...I have too much out and things are everywhere, way too much and too far apart to cover, so I'll be praying hard.

Yes ~ sorry to hear about the plant plundering. Did you catch the varmint? What did you use for bait?

I am watching the weather too and more concerned this time than last. Even tonight I have covered. I have vegetables out and blooming. A few more tropical plants are moved in the shelter already. I think this one is for real. This is the Wunderground warning and I am in the area! Grrrrr!

Boo Hoo, hoo...
I think to water things well and tuck in what you can. Good thing is, it is probably the last serious one. As the oldtimers say, one more cold spell at Easter. At least they don't expect snow like we got on the Easter weekend in '07! Stay warm everyone.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

It did not get as cold this morning as predicted so maybe......
I did not take a chance and made a makeshift GH for my potted up plants for the MG sale. I made it from 2 saw horses and 12' 2 X 4's. I double decked it and put the shorter plants on bottom, tall on top shelf. Covered it with plastic sheeting. Hope this works.
I caught that bad boy and it was a 'possum. Baited with a little cat food and some fish emulsion. Got it first try.
The MGers have planted a nice garden for the HOPE soup kitchen. They use it to help feed the needy of our community. I will go today and take flower pot and cover for tonight. Lots of peppers, tomatoes and other tenders to cover.
Yesterday I cut many of the iris blooms in the yard and made a pretty arrangement. They are really nice this year. Planted out in ground there is just too much to try to cover and protect. We will just have to wait and see how bad it really gets tonight.
Hope the efforts will work with little damage to things.
