Dallas Area Plant Sale Alert!

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

April 18 is going to be a big plant sale day around Dallas!

The Collin County Master Gardeners annual plant sale is Saturday April 18 from 9 am to 3 pm. There will be free instructional classes and kids activities too. I've seen the pending plant list and it is way better than in past years...more EarthKind Roses, more perennials, and even some ornamental grasses!
No tax is charged. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own cart/wagon.

The Heard Museum sale actually starts Friday the 17th for members and continues through Sunday...although I can tell you from experience that most of the plants have been drastically picked over by then.

Hope to see ya'll at one or both of these! (I'm working at the CCMGA sale until noon - look for a blonde with the big nose and a broom.)

Thanks for the heads-up, Tam. I've never been to the Heard Museum and was planning to visit this year in conjunction with the plant sale. Thanks for the reminder.

I was wondering when the sale was. I've been other years and really liked the selection and condition of plants.

Don't forget about this one too.

And if you really wanted to drive, SFA in Nacogdoches is also holding theirs.

I'm going to try to go to the heard one...they have a good list and have been there before.

The added pottery demonstration sounds fun, too.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Last year the Heard had tons of stuff left over the following Monday, marked buy one get one free. I usually go up there during the Friday pre-sale, but since I don't actually need anything this year, I am going to wait until Monday to go up there and see what they have left. If it's nothing I will just chalk it up to me not needing anything anyways. :) If they end up having stuff left over Monday, I will post it on here.

Not in the Dallas area, but the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center plant sale is this weekend. My family and I will be travelling through Austin to visit my mother-in-law, and my wife has given me to OK to go to this one. Woohoo! The list of plants is very impressive. :)

I bet you will find some interesting natives.

Crawford, TX

Don't forget the Texas-native-only plant sale in Waco (Baylor University) from 9-3 on Saturday 18 April. You will be hard pressed to find a more diverse list of natives outside of the LBJ plant sale (and we have some they don't). We also provide a full-color 1-page plant info sheet for EVERY species you purchase at the sale.

That sounds like a great one, too. I just don't think I could convince my wife to do it, after the 14 hours of driving this weekend.

I am quite happy with what I bought at the sale: canyon mock orange, globeberry, snapdragon vine, shrubby skullcap, golden groundsel, scarlet pea, and barbara's buttons.

Wanted to give this one last bump...

Also, the Live Green in Plano Expo on Saturday sounds pretty fun too. No plants for sale that I know of, but Plano residents can trade in their gas mower and receive a $150 voucher toward an electric one! Pretty cool.

Here's more info about the Expo: http://www.livegreenexpo.net/
